The Stadium Reviews is a personal website that I’ve been working on for over a year. The pandemic had me shift my focus away from parking and into evergreen blog content. On October 18th, 2020, I had my single best day ever in traffic with over 600+ sessions. Here is a recap of what I’ve been working on since March 2020.
A Shift to Parking
When I began The Stadium Reviews, I fell into the same SEO trap most website owners do. I looked at my competitors in SEMRush, I sorted by search volume, and then only wrote about baseball stadiums. I never ranked anywhere close to page 1 of Google via this strategy. The first shift took place in the late summer / early fall of 2019 via parking pages. I began writing content around parking and saw a dramatic increase in traffic and revenue from SpotHero and Google AdSense.
A Shift from Parking to the Blog
After the success of the parking pages in the fall and winter, I was excited for 2020. I felt I was poised to drive thousands of visits to my site all year round, but then the pandemic hit. Like everyone else, I had to pivot if I wanted to have success in an uncertain time. Since March 2020, I began working on my blog and writing content based on search analysis.
Search Analysis
In the video below, you will learn about how I go about search analysis in great detail. To summarize what I did for The Stadium Reviews, I began researching topics in all four major sports trends on Google. Even though SEMRush did not say there was a lot of search volume for some of these topics, I still gave it a try. With sports not happening in the U.S for most of the spring and summer, my traffic was abysmal, but I felt hopeful that sports coming back in late summer could change this for the better.
SEO Takes Weeks if Not Months to Work
Working on The Stadium Reviews makes me confident as a NY SEO Expert that I can drive results in 3-6 months for clients. Since I was writing brand new content from scratch, I saw that it could take weeks, if not months, to move to page 1 of Google. Just getting to page 1 of Google was an accomplishment, but as close to position 1 was the real goal.
600+ Daily Organic Sessions
On October 19th, 2020, my site hit a milestone with 600+ daily organic sessions. The closest I ever came to this was around 300+ sessions in one day, so this was massive. Part of the 600+ sessions came from ranking number one for a target keyword and catching the MLB Postseason for daily search interest.
What is Next?
I keep on writing! For TM Blast, I work on client stuff first, then SEO audits, SEO videos on YouTube, TM Blast SEO, and The Stadium Reviews. I have a few more blogs ready to go, but I have to keep writing. With the MLB ending in a few weeks, my focus is 100% on the NFL for now. In November, I will focus on writing content for the NBA and the NFL as they start their season shortly afterward.
