Locksmith Local SEO – Local SEO Case Study
Locksmith Google Maps Optimization
When there is a local search intent behind a search, like “locksmith”, Google only wants to display businesses in that area to users to call.
If that user is searching on their phone for that keyword, Google will display three organic map listings on page 1 for the user to directly call, which means that searcher might not even go to your website. Having your business show up in that top three map pack is critical to getting more business.
I’ll be optimizing your Google My Business account with the following.
- Updating your description
- Removing unnecessary services
- Adding secondary categories
- Uploading new photos
- Answering questions
- Creating new updates
- Making a product listing
- Adding social media icons
- Performing competitor gap analysis
- And more!

Above is an example of how Google will display three organic map pack listings.

Bing Maps Optimization
Bing Maps SEO will vary for Local SEO clients. Some clients get about 5% of their total SEO traffic from Bing while others get closer to 15%. No matter what, you want to make sure you are expanding your Bing Map rankings just like Google Maps. Most of the time you won’t be able to track the phone call performance on Bing since the majority of their searches come from a desktop / laptop and not mobile.
Below is what I focus on for Bing Maps
- Syncing the changes from Google Maps into Bing
- Updating the service areas if they don’t carry over from Google Maps
- Adding the social media icons that don’t carry over from Google
Apple Business Connect
Apple Maps SEO tends to be more important than Bing Maps for Local SEO Clients. Apple Maps is the default mapping service on iOS devices, so they naturally have a larger mobile audience than Bing.
For some of my Local SEO clients, they get about 10-15% of their monthly phone calls from Apple Maps, so it is important to keep an eye on.
Below are some of the ways I’ll be optimizing your Apple Maps account
- Writing your description
- Adding relevant categories
- Updating any relevant Apple-specific information that should be on the profile
- Uploading new photos
- Creating showcases
- Performing competitor gap analysis
- And more!
