+288% Increase in Bing SEO Traffic Jan – Jun 2026 vs Jan – Jun 2025
This is a case study because the work took place several months ago. My client moved to a very heavy JavaScript website, which was causing issues with Bing indexing and crawling. Since I was tracking their daily Bing keywords before the move, I saw a decline in rankings and knew there was a technical issue at hand. After addressing that issue from the Bing Site Indexing Service that I offer to one-off clients, we’ve seen only steady gains in Bing SEO traffic.
Here is that case study
Technical SEO Matters for Bing
As mentioned, I offer a one-off service called Bing Indexing help. Every account that I have helped has had a different issue, so I was already familiar with heavy JS (JavaScript) websites and Bing. My client moved to a heavy JS website in 2025, which caused all sorts of problems with Bing. Google was also impacted slightly, but Bing was heavily demoted for them.
From my experience, I knew we had to get Bing up and running like before. The SEO work underway had a glass ceiling on that search engine, and the problem would only compound with ChatGPT, since that platform uses Bing’s index. Seer wrote a post about how 87% of the index from ChatGPT comes from Bing, so it is worth a read.
+288% More Bing Organic Session Traffic YoY – #seocasestudy
Greg Kristan from TM Blast walks through a real SEO case study showing how one client increased Bing organic traffic by 288% year over year, resulting in approximately 3,700 additional organic sessions from Bing alone. While most SEO professionals focus almost exclusively on Google, this video explains why Bing deserves far more attention—especially if you’re interested in AI search platforms like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. In this case study, Greg demonstrates how he used Google Analytics 4, Bing Webmaster Tools, and Semrush to diagnose a major indexing problem after the client’s website migrated to a JavaScript-heavy CMS. Bing struggled to properly crawl and index important pages, leading to declining keyword rankings and lost organic visibility. By identifying the technical issue, improving crawlability, increasing crawl frequency, adding schema markup, strengthening internal linking, and monitoring keyword performance daily, the site recovered and achieved significant year-over-year growth. The video also explains why Bing optimization is becoming increasingly valuable for GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Since Microsoft Bing powers search experiences across Microsoft Copilot and contributes heavily to AI search ecosystems, improving your Bing presence can help increase visibility beyond traditional search engines. Greg also discusses how he uses tools like Otterly.AI to monitor AI visibility and why technical SEO remains one of the biggest factors in long-term organic success. Noticed the Drop
I use SEMrush + Bing Webmaster Tools to monitor my client’s help. After the website move, I saw rankings drop, and the index report drop for my client. Fewer impressions and clicks were immediate and stayed for a long time.
JS – Toggle on and Off
I used Microsoft Edge / Google Chrome to toggle the JS on and off. Bing has a hard time indexing JS when the HTML is behind it. I shared those screenshots with the development team.
Defer JS as the Fix
Deferring the JS means that you allow a bot to first see the HTML instead of needing to load the JS first. Bing can’t see the content otherwise b/c their bot needs to see the HTML, and on a crawl where JS is in front of it looks empty.
SEO Matters – Internal Links
Bing, like Google, follows internal links to help with crawling and indexing. To help speed up indexing, I identified the top pages still indexed and crawled by Bing and manually added links to pages that had been dropped by Bing.
Schema Markup Really Helped
Bing uses microdata (schema) as a strong signal for SEO. To help, I pushed my client to add video schema markup to every page to help Google (and Bing) understand the content.
Full Steam Ahead
In Microsoft Bing Webmaster Tools, I pushed for a 100% fast crawl 24/7. A faster crawl sped up Bing’s index through the site, which resulted in more pages brought back to Bing’s index
Final Thoughts
Normally, Bing and Google SEO work well together. Chances are, if Google likes your site, Bing will love it. However, from my experience, a heavy JS website can cause massive issues with Bing. Luckily for my client, I’m one of a handful of SEO experts who track Bing daily for my clients, so I spotted this drop immediately and worked to get it back up and running for them.
