Company for GEO SEO Services

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the process of increasing your brand mentions across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Microsoft CoPilot, Google Gemini, and other AI driven results. Brand mentions can come from linked and non-linked mentions across a wide range of queries. At TM Blast, I use Otterly.AI to track 20-30 prompts for my clients daily to increase their brand mentions and brand sentiment score.

Here is a case study for TM Blast that displays the brand mentions increasing to give you an idea as to what this service looks like. Check out AI Mention Case Study growing from 6% to 31% here to learn what I’m doing with TM Blast

Company for GEO SEO Services

Key Summary

  • What is GEO? Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of increasing your brand mentions across ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot, Google Gemini, and Perplexity.
  • How Do You Measure This? I track 20-30 prompts across all 4 GEO engines daily. The goal here is to see brand coverage mentions increase
  • What is Brand Sentiment? Getting mentioned by a GEO platform is step 1, but step 2 is to improve the overall outlook of how these platforms recommend your brand. For example, is your service worth it for others to consider
  • GA4 Tracking: Tracking traffic from GEO platforms is tricky because not everyone will click on the links. However, for those that do, GA4 allows marketers to filter by source to see traffic from these platforms to a website.

Company for GEO SEO Services Case Study

Today, I’m seeing more daily brand mentions for the prompt Who can manage Bing Ads to complement SEO strategy, which I’ve grown from 25% to now 50% of the time mentioned. The way I increased that percentage came from writing a blog post about that prompt, which came first from my Bing Ads data for AI SEO for Ecommerce. Basically, I created a blog post about the prompt to increase my visibility, and I’m using that visibility to then funnel more potential clients into my SEO / PPC services. This is why my #GEOSEOService is a one-off strategy since a win like this won’t appear in a Google Analytics 4 report, but I know this will pay off.

Example GEO Prompts I Use for TM Blast

For TM Blast and my clients, I like to use a mixture of upper-funnel and lower-funnel prompts to track across GEO platforms. It is best to track both long-tail prompts and short-tail prompts because of how people actually use these platforms.

For my business, I can see that a long prompt like “hourly SEO consulting for Local Service Businesses,” is mentioned 56 times in the 14 day period I have. As we scroll down, I have “hourly SEO company” mentioned 10 times. That is valuable to see. I need to close that gap to make my business more visible for purchase-intent phrases, but I’m doing well with the discovery portion.

GEO Drill Down Example ChatGPT

GEO Drill Down Example: ChatGPT

One part of the GEO SEO Strategy I like is the ability to drill down into a specific platform. My clients tend to care more about how they rank on ChatGPT than, say, Microsoft CoPilot. In that case, I can change the filter view to show them if our brand’s daily coverage for those prompts on that platform is growing.

For TM Blast, I’ve increased the daily mentions on ChatGPT from 10% to now 21% over the past 30 days. That is a 110% increase in mentions for my brand on the prompts most important to my business.

Third-Party Sites Not Mentioning Your Brand is Critical

One of the strategies I use for TM Blast and my clients is the citations report in Otterly.AI. I can change the filter to see if my competitors are mentioned on websites that are heavily featured on GEO platforms, yet we are not. From here, I need to either pitch my brand (TM Blast) or have my clients personally reach out to these sites to see if they can be featured. The success rate of this strategy is low, but it is still part of the optimization, nonetheless.

As a note, some publishes may require payment to be listed on these articles. You can think of this as link building, but the goal here is to get listed on sites to increase your brand’s visibility.

What’s the Difference Between GEO and AEO?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is what ChatGPT and others display when relaying information to a searcher. Getting your brand mentioned in the results is a GEO result.

Meanwhile, AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is what Google and Bing display at the top of their search results for a standard search. AEO depends on Good SEO, but overlaps occur at times between the results cited in the answer box and the GEO results.

Here is an example of TM Blast featured on Bing to give you an idea of what an AEO result looks like. While Bing is a traditional search engine, they have their own AI-Powered results that is outside of what they show on Microsoft CoPilot.

Heavy JS Websites Will Need to Adapt for the GEO Strategy

Sites that rely on heavy amounts of JavaScript (JS) will be at a disadvantage when it comes to the GEO SEO Strategy from TM Blast. While JS looks great, they cause problems for GEO platforms (and even Google and Bing) when it comes to understanding data. Therefore, if your website comes back with failing grades for static vs dynamic content, we will need to fix that first before we see success.

Having a strong technical SEO strategy or plan in place is key for future brand visibility. Schema markup can only take you so far if you have other issues on your site that cause problems for LLMS.

Content Optimization is What We Control for Better GEO Rankings

Content Optimization is What We Control for Better GEO Rankings

I published a blog post on TM Blast discussing how I think about content for SEO and AI. The blog is called “Who Can Manage Bing Ads to Complement the SEO and AI SEO strategy“, which illustrates the strategy I’m pushing for my clients.

For my brand and my clients, I see the on-page changes that we make tend to yield almost immediate results. Some of the more common on-page changes include Key Summaries, semantic changes, external linking, jargon reduction, readability, and more.

Competitor Review

A competitor review is something my GEO SEO Company can provide to my clients. The brand coverage over time dashboard can show how we are ranking daily compared to our competitors. A view like this is critical because it will not only show the daily coverage gap but also the brand sentiment gap we currently have.

GA4 Will Show Session Data and Goals for LLMS

Brand mentions across GEO platforms are goal number one. Goal number two is to improve brand sentiment across blog posts, reviews, and more. Goal three, which is harder to track, is the value of GEO traffic back to a website. The reason this is harder to track is twofold.

ChatGPT and others don’t always link back to your website. Therefore, you may be listed in the results, which looks good on the Otterly.AI dashboard, but users can’t actually click them. Typically, either brand traffic or SEO brand traffic increases, but it doesn’t get attributed to GEO.

Second, ChatGPT and others may link to your website, but the results remain on ChatGPT. Again, this makes tracking the value of these mentions difficult if you are only looking at GA4, and it’s hard to say how we can increase our GEO traffic from 3% to 10%. Using that thought process is where the disconnect tends to start when companies hire a GEO SEO Company.

Should All Clients Pay for AI Services

Should All Clients Pay for this Service?

The GEO SEO strategy is an add-on to the traditional SEO service I provide. There are overlaps, but having a strong SEO strategy must be present to rank well in GEO results.

I only offer this type of service to my National SEO Clients for a few reasons. First, I can only track the brand mentions at the United States (or another country) level. Therefore, if you are a locksmith who serves a 5-mile radius, you won’t benefit from this tracking.

Second, national brands tend to have a longer conversion funnel. Unlike a locksmith, who deals with emergencies, a B2B or B2C company needs to be part of the funnel to secure a future sale. Think of a pillow company that obviously wants to rank for “firm pillows” from an SEO perspective. They would greatly benefit from a GEO SEO Strategy (or the AI SEO for Ecommerce Service Strategy) that puts them in the mix for prompts around “what are the best types of pillows for neck pain” or “what are some good brands of pillows to help alleviate neck pain while sleeping.” Having your brand in these prompt results will support down-the-funnel decision-making.
